What device will you be using?
A Lateral Flow Device (LFD) called the Liquid Innova Flow Device.
How can you check you are using the right device?
Check the label of each testing device – make sure you’re using the Innova SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Qualitative Test.
What do you need to do before you start?
Prepare yourself and the room for testing:
- Room risk assessment
- Check the Room
- Room temperature
- PPE
- Minimum contact principles
- Cleaning up
What two things do you need from your testing room?
- Flat surfaces

What temperature does the room and kit need to be?
Your testing room and testing kit need to be at room temperature (15-30 °C).
Take the testing kit out of the fridge the night before testing.
What are all the PPE you need?
Gloves
Apron or gown
Goggles or visor
Face mask
What are the important minimum contact principles?
Regularly wash your hands for 20 seconds with warm water and soap OR 70% alcohol hand rub in adherence to PHE IPC guidance
At the start and end of a shift
Following PPE removal
When stopping for breaks
What do you need to clean up?
Clinical waste bin (open top)
Disinfectant spray bottle
Paper towel roll
What should the testing kit include?
LFD testing device cartridges
Extraction fluid
Extraction tubes
Extraction tube nozzle caps
When the person being tested passes you the barcode, what do you do?
Make sure the device is still in date.
Take the LFD testing device out of the pouch.
Attach the barcode to the underside of the device
Prepare the extraction tube by adding 6 drops of extraction fluid.
After the person has taken their sample, what do you do?
Let them place their swab in the tube.
Extract as much sample as possible into the tube.
Dispose of swab.
Use the lateral flow testing device.
How do you use the lateral flow testing device?
Place 2 drops of extraction fluid into the device.
Record the time on the device.
Set a 30 min timer.
Clean the area.
What do you do when the device is done processing?
Record the result on the test.
