These processes within schools, such as labelling, self fulfilling prophecy, banding/streaming, student subcultures, the curriculum (which is very ethnocentric and shaped by middle class cultural values), racism, peer pressure etc 
are seen as important by some sociologists(interactionists) in showing that it is these small interactions that have the most impact on society
