Radio stations that are required to be licensed are issued a call sign by ISED
What do you use if you don’t have a call sign issued by ISED?
Use your vessel’s name and be prepared to provide the license number, if needed
What do you use instead of a call sign if your vessel doesn’t have a name or vessel license number?
Use your own name (ex. joe smith’s kayak)
Two channel types and differences
Simplex- TX and RX same frequency (can only send or receive, not both at the same time)
Duplex - TX and RX different frequency (you can send and receive at the same time like a telephone)
