Laceration repairs
Are coded by type and site, ie complex, intermediate, simple. Repairs within the same anatomical location are added together. Ie abdomen and buttox are a part of the trunk, so it is added. Arms and scalp, added. Mod 59 is used when more then one classification of laceration is reported.
Tissue blocks
Are coded by stages and tissue blocks. Example, three stages. First seven blocks, 17315 reported for each piece of tissue beyond five. 17311, 17312, 17312, 17315, 17315
Anatomical sites
Trunk, head and neck, perineum, whole arm, whole neck
Anatomical categories
Are added together for burns and lacerations of the same cat/complexity
Fracture of metatarsal bone of left great toe, orthopedic boot applied
