Where is the initial hearing held?
A
Magistrates court

What happens at this hearing?
A
D’s identity will be confirmed by the clerk and then D will enter a plea

What happens if D pleads guilty?
A
There will immediately be a sentence hearing involving a brief statement of facts from P and any statements D wants to make. The Mags then announce their sentence

What happens if D pleads not guilty?
A
The Mags will try and discover the issues involved in the case, decide on bail, then set a date for the trial.
