What is a procedure?
A series of actions conducted in a certain order or manner
What is the difference between a procedure and a policy?
A policy contains general rules and principles, while procedures describe how to achieve a task in a way that conforms to the policies
Why are operational procedures important?
Some operations are inherently delicate and must be performed correctly else the objectives are not met
What is necessary to document for procedures?
How it should be performed and when, who is authorised to perform it and who is responsible for ensuring it is performed
What is procedures’ relation with consistency?
Procedures ensure that actions are carried out in a consistent way
How can procedures contribute to accountability?
Ensures that important operations are only carried out by the appropriate staff members, segregation of duty constraints are specified, and appropriate records are kept
What should management ensure for staff?
That they are provided with adequate resources and project planning time to implement security
