Rise of revolutionary parties during this time
- Social Revolutionaries established in 1901, blew up Minister of the Interior Plevhe 1904
- Social Democrats established 1898, advocated for Marxist revolution, very anti-Tsarism
Popularity of these parties grew further as a result of government censorship, restriction of parties gained attention of the public therefore increasing their popularity
87.5% of population had no ability to impact decisions made in the country, no political representation
What economic issues were present in Russia from 1894-1905?
4/5 of the population were peasants who had a very poor standard of living, were in extreme poverty and confined to a specific area given to their families
45% of annual government budget spent on maintaining army and navy, neglected needs of the people
Emancipation Act 1861 had ongoing effects, as peasants who were encouraged to buy land through this act could not as a result of high land prices
