The workers didn’t like this, because they had low pay, loads of hours, and bad working conditions, which caused the workers to join trade unions ( if they didn’t get what they wanted, they would strike)
As the workers had such bad conditions, who did they vote for and why?
The workers voted for the Socialist party. They were a party that was working for equality for workers and peasants.
Who were the SPD and what did they hope the Kiaser would do?
There were two types of Socailists. Social Democratic Party (SPD) and communists. The SPD were moderates. They wanted: If they got hurt at work the boss would play, get pensions, sick days etc.
What did more extremist socialists want?
They wanted to overthrow the Kaiser and want to completely take his power away.
What problems did the Kaiser wanting Germany to have a strong army cause?
It costs a lot of money
• Germany went into debt and had to borrow money from the USA

- The tax increases which made people unhappy because some couldn’t afford it and Germany owed America a lot of money.

- Wanting a strong navy caused debt, and taxes went up.
- Workers joining trade unions due to him making them have poor conditions.

They started declining some of the Kaisers policies.
