-First proposed by Epicrurus who spoke about the inconsistent triad, the statements that God is omnipotent, omnibenevolent, and omnicient and that evil exists are logically inconsistent, they cannot all be true, the existence of a God with abrahamic attributes is inconsistent with the existence of evil because it leaves 3 possibilities as to why evil exists which are incompatible with Gods nature

-God knows about evil and wants to stop it but cannot-wouldnt be omnipotent
-God knows about evil but doesn’t want to stop it-God cannot be all loving
-God does not know about evil-if he did he would stop it-God cannot be omnicient

-The problem of evil shows that the existence of evil is incompatible with the existence of the Abrahamic God-used as an argument for atheism-A truly loving God would stop evil as best as it possibly could
