Probability & Statistics Flashcards
Empirical Cumulative Distribution Function (ECDF)
- X-axis is the unit of the feature
- Y-axis is the fraction of data that has smaller than the corresponding X value
- It always accumulates to 1
Probability Distributions
- Bernouli
- Uniform
- Binomial
- Poisson
- Exponential
- Normal
- Gamma
- Beta
Probability Density Function
Probability of a given range to occur instead of a single instance, which would be close to zero since a continous range can be quite large
Bernoulli Distribution
Distribution between 0 and 1
Binomial Distribution
Discrete version of a normal dist (which is continous)
Poisson Distribution
Discrete distribution for probability of events occuring in a fixed interval.
Every interval is the same as the other.
No interval affects another interval.
Examples that may follow a Poisson distribution include the number of phone calls received by a call center per hour
What is the central limit theorem
Taking means of random samples from any distribution will come back with a normal distribution of sample means
