  3. POH
  4. Airworthiness Directives or Service Bulletins

Actions before Operating Aircraft (if not required or ferry permit)

  1. Inop equipment must be removed/deactivated
  2. log in maintenance records if removed/deactivated by a mechanic
  3. Placard INOP
  4. PIC makes final decision if safe to fly

Preventative Maintenance

  • pilot certificate holder may perform preventative maintenance

  • ex. replacing light bulbs, etc.

What are Lost Comms Procedures?

Troubleshoot
- check radio on
- check volume
- check headset plug connection
- check frequency
- request radio check
- go back to last used frequency

In controlled airspace, squawk 7600
- stay above traffic pattern altitude
- wait for ATC light gun signals, rock wings to acknowledge

Uncontrolled airspace
- land as soon as practicable
