Prioritization Theories Flashcards
where do you gather data from to establish priorites
shift report, handoff, communicating with other team members, document review, pt assessment, concerns from pt and/or family
what are the levels of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs (bottom to top)
physiological needs, safety needs, social needs, esteem needs, self actualization
how should you address levels of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs
address bottom first then work way up
how is airway, breathing, circulation ranked in priority
airway is highest, breathing (RR) is second, circulation (BP, HR) is third (except 1st priority during CPR)
what is class IV when categorizing survival potential
injuries NOT COMPATIBLE WITH LIFE (EXPECTANT, black): potential for survival doesn’t exist even with tx, comfort care, lowest priority
what is class III when categorizing survival potential
less serious injuries (NON-URGENT, cream): don’t pose threat to life even with delayed tx
what is class II when categorizing survival potential
serious/extensive injury (URGENT, yellow): don’t pose immediate threat to life but potential for survival with delayed tx
what is class I when categorizing survival potential
life-threatening injuries (EMERGENT, red): immediate tx needed for chance for survival, highest priority
