General contraindications
Age <10 - >75 years
Body weight < 5 kg or a BMI > 50 kg/m2
Previous haematological malignancies and/or malignant neoplasms with active metastasis.
Active fungal, parasitic, viral, or bacterial meningitis or encephalitis
Aplastic anaemia, agranulocytosis
No discernible cause of death
* Kidney contraindications
Age > 70 years; age 50-69 years with history of Type 1 diabetes for >20 years
Polycystic kidney disease, glomerulosclerosis greater than or equal to 20% by kidney biopsy
Terminal serum creatinine greater than 4.0 mg/dL
Chronic renal failure
No urine output for 24 hours or longer
* Liver contraindications:
Cirrhosis, portal hypertension, fulminant hepatic failure
Terminal total bilirubin greater than or equal to 4 mg/dL
Macrosteatosis greater > 50% or fibrosis greater than or equal to stage II
Terminal AST/ALT levels > 700 U/l
