Client-Centered Couseling Theory
Use warm, uncondiitonal positive regard and empathy to help clients fully understand and experience their feelings, thoughts and goals
Behavioral Counseling Theory
Assumes that if clients need to or want to change their behavior, then behavior should be the focus of the work
This may include the goals of changing spending or savings behavioirs as well as investing behaviors
Probaly results from inapproprate learning and needs some reinforcement of finanical planning concepts
Cognitive Counseling Theory
Assumes that a client’s negative thoughts are a result of painful emotions from past experiences, which often lead to maladaptive financial behavior
Could be effective for client issues such as overspending and gambling problems
Solution-focused counseling theory
Emphasis on a client’s STRENGTHS and GOALS, with belief that a client already has the resources to change financial behaviors
