Primary Tooth Morphology Flashcards
Most important parts of Max Central Incisor
MD width is GREATER than the cervico-incisal length
Labial surface smooth with no developmental grooves
Max lateral incisor
C-I length greater than MD width
Maxillary canine
Really big constriction at cervical
Sharp cusp tip
Root is more than 2x length of crown
Why are canines important
They are the focal point of growth for the upper jaw
Mandibular lateral incisor
Larger than the central incisor other than in the labiolingual direction
Incisal edge slopes toward the distal of the tooth
Maxillary 1st Molar
ML cusp is the largest and sharpest
DL cusp is a bitch ass
Maxillary 2nd Molar
Crown is bigger than the 1st MAX molar
Roots longer and heavier so don’t break as often
Mandibular 1st Molar
DOESN’T resemble any of the permanant teet h
When viewed from mesial, extreme curvature bucally at the cervical third
Differences between Primary and Perm Teeth
- Primary teeth are wider MD
- Roots of primary anterior teeth are narrow and longer
- Roots of primary teeth are longer and more prone to break
- Primary teet usually lighter in color
- Crowns are narrower MD in the cervical 1/3!
6.
Agenesis of teeth is a problem of what phase
Initiation
Most frequently missing teeth
Thirds
MAN 2nd PM
Laterals
MAX 2nd PM
What is the problem with ectodermal dysplasia
Absence of embryonic ectoderm
What are the manifestations of ectodermal dysplasia
Weird hair
Tooth agenesis
Weird nails
NO sweat glands
Tooth eruption preceded by:
Increased saliva
Hands in mouth
Restless behavior
Loss of appetite
Oragel is recommended to teething
NO. Causes nerve damage
