Primary Tissue Types Flashcards
Primary tissue types
- muscle tissue
- connective tissue
- epithelial tissue
- Nervous tissue
Composition of muscle tissue
Muscle cells
Can contract and create forces in response to the nerve signals
Function of muscle tissue
1 - pump blood
2 - moving food through digestive system
3 - produce movement and forces to move the body
Example of muscle tissue
1- Skeletal muscle
2- cardiac muscle
3- smooth muscle
Connective tissue components
- dense solid material (bone)
- semi solid (cartilage)
- liquid (blood)
- inorganic materials (calcium and phosphores)
Function of the connective tissue
Connect and support other organs in the body
Example on the connective tissue 5
Blood / bone /tendon / cartilage / ligament
Describe the ligament in the connective tissue
bands of elastic connective tissue that
1- stabilize joints and
separate bones
To prevent friction
Tendon in the connective tissue
Strong /solid / flexible tissue
Connect bone to muscle
BTM
Bone tendon muscle
BLB
Bone ligament bone
Define tissue
Group of cells that are related to each other and preform specific function
Epithelial tissue components
A group of the epithelial cells
Epithelial function
1- cover the outside of an organ or a body
2- line inner cavities of the body
Example of epithelial tissue
Skin / stomach /esophagus
Nervous tissue component and their function
1- primary cells ( neurons )
Function nerve cells produce and transmit electrochemical signals from different parts of the body to the nervous system
2. Supporting cells
Function support the function of the neuron ( nerve cells)
