Q

What might occur if a child loses their primary teeth too early? What is done in this case?

Q

primary dentation

A

beginning in infancy with the eruption of the first tooth about 6 months
complete from approximately 3-6 yrs of age where all

17
Q

Mixed dentition

A

Approximately age 6- 13 both primary and permanent are present in the mouth

18
Q

Adolescent dentation

A

all primary teeth have exfoliated, second permanent molars may be erupting, and 3rd molars have not erupted

19
Q

Adult dentation

A

All permanent teeth are present and eruptive growth is complete

20
Q

Overbite

A

Vertical measurement primary incisors

21
Q

overjet

A

horizontal

22
Q

“Rule of 4” for primary teeth Eruption

A

Eruption of 4 teeth every 4 months beginning at the age of 6-7 months
Ex: 7months 4 teeth - MAN->MAX centrals
11 months 8 teeth - MAN-MAX lateral, central
15 months 12 teeth - MAN->MAX central, lateral incisors, first molars
19 months - 16 teeth -MAN->MAX central & lateral incisors , first molar, canine
23 months 20 teeth - MAN->MAX central &lateral incisors, first molar, canine, second molar
