Consolidated Billing
If you consolidate billing across multiple accounts, AWS would consolidate the bills and you can still take tiering benefits based on usage across multiple accounts.
In AWS clients pay primarily for (Core service categories)
- Compute Capacity
- Storage
- Outbound Data transfer (aggregated) - aggregation across : EC2, S3, RDS, Simple DB, SQS, SNS, VPC and charged at outbound data transfer rate
No Charge for : Inbound data transfers
Amazon EC2 pricing
- Charge only for capacity used, clock - sec/hr of server time
- For On demand - pay by the hour, min 60 sec
- For Reserved - low/no upfront payment, discount on hourly charge
- For Spot instance - Bid for unused capacity
- Pricing could vary by: AWS region, OS, instance type, instance size
- OS cost is included
Amazon CloudWatch pricing
Basic monitoring is free Detailed monitoring (fixed rate, pro rated partial month)
Autoscaling pricing
Auto adjusts number of instances at no additional charge
Elastic IP address pricing
No charge for 1 when associated with a running instance
