How to form the Preterito Perfecto?
“To have” + past participle
(Note: the past participle is the verb’s root + ado/ido/ido)
How to conjugate “haber”?
(note: “Haber” is only used for forming tenses, not to indicate possetion or belonging. For that, use “tener”.)
Yo: He
Tu’: Has
El/Ella/Ud: Ha
Nosotros: Hemos
Vosotros: Habe’is
Ellos/Ellas/Uds: Han
How to form the Imperfecto?
Verb root + aba/i’a/i’a
(1st person singular and 3rd person singular have the same conjugation.)
Determine if you should use preterito perfecto or Imperfecto:
She ate at that restaurant every week for ten years.
Translate.
Imperfecto:
Ella comi’a en ese restaurante cada semana para diez an~os.
(for past actions that were habitual/reccuring)
Determine if you should use preterito perfecto or Imperfecto:
I swept this morning.
Translate.
Preterito Perfecto:
Hube barrido esta man~ana.
(note: “haber” conjugation is irregular.)
