A
Damage to skin usually over a bony prominence as a result of pressure

Aetiology:
A
Constant pressure limits blood flow to the skin leading to tissue damage.
Can be due to pressure , friction or shear

A
Immobility - obese and hospital pts
Alzheimer’s
Diabetes

Epidemiology
A
Common in hospitals
Mostly common in the elderly

Symptoms and signs
A
Occurs over a bony prominence especially sacrum and heel
Staged from 1 to 4
Can be very tender
If infected then fever, foul smell and erythema

Clinical diagnosis
Waterlow score can be used to see pts risk of pressure sore
