Pressure Leak
Definition and Procedure
A seepage of cabin pressure that usually sounds like a high pitched whistle
Procedure:
Tell PAX in the immediate area “Remain seated, fasten seat-belts, and no smoking”
With out crossing area of leak; notify FD & all other F/As’ (via inter-phone if necessary)
Make announcement to entire cabin “Remain seated, fasten seat-belts, and no smoking”
Standby for instructions
Do not remove PAX unless advised by PIC
Decompression
Definition, Signs, Symptoms
Definition:
A sudden, unexpected loss of cabin pressure
Signs: Loud noise Mist or fog in the cabin Debris flying through the air Masks dropping, sign that cain interior altitude is at 14,000 ft.
Symptoms:
Rapid breathing
Discomfort or pain in the ears and sinuses
Bloated feeling
Pain and inflammation in and around the joints
Disorientation & confusion
Dryness in mouth
Decompression A/C Warning Signs
B717 Warnings Horn in FD Ceiling lights to bright "No Smoking/Fasten Seat-belt" sign illuminates 2-tone chime in cabin
B767 Warnings
“No Smoking/Fasten Seat-belt”sign illuminates
Single tone chime in cabin
A330 Indications Pre-recorded announcements Cabin lights to bright "No Smoking/Fasten Seat-belt" sings illuminate "Exit" sings illuminate
Decompression Procedure
Procedure
Immediately secure yourself
Don the nearest O2 mask
Shout the commands between breaths using PA if accessible
“Grab a mask, put it on, fasten seat-belts, no smoking”
FD will dive down to 10,000 ft and will inform cabin when O2 is no longer necessary
Make announcement
“O2 is no longer necessary. Remain seated, fasten seat-belts, no smoking”
Don O2 W/A
Check cabin “LIFFS”
Lavatories
Injuries
Fellow F/A
Further need of O2
Structural damage to the A/C
PAX who need further O2 Procedure
Use same O2 mask if with in 15 min of activation
Masks from unused canister
O2 W/A
A330 LCR Decompression
Immediately secure your self
Don on nearest O2 mask
Remain in LCR until advised it is safe to return to MC
MC F/As check LCR for occupants following a decompression
