Pressure in fluids Flashcards

1
Q

Laws of pressure in fluid

A
  1. Pressure exerted by fluid at rest is always at right angles to surface of vessel
  2. Fluid at rest the pressure is the same in all directions
  3. Downward pressure in open vessel is proprtional to depth
  4. Downward presure is subject to density of fluid
  5. downward pressure isindependant of shape of vessel

Q

factors effecting suction

A
  1. Create flow in water
  2. Raise the water
  3. overcome entry loss at impeller as water changes direction
  4. overcome suction loss due to friction in stariner
