seeks to promote the issue to its members and supporters about a particular topic
Greenpeace is probably the largest example of a cause groups
Dignity in Dying - promoting the rights of individuals to end their lives
what do sectional or interest groups do
seek to promote and protect the interests of its members
AA - automobile Association, seeks to protect the interest of car owners
CBI - Confederacy of British Industry: protects the interest of business leaders
What is a single cause groups
focuses on a particular issue
Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) focused on reducing smoking and creating a societal response against smoking
sPUC - Society for the Protection of Unbron Children
what are multi-cause groups?
groups that seek to promote and protect the interests of a often general issue or topic
such as Trade UNIons - seeking to promote and protect the interests of workers
Friends of the Earth - multi cause groups focused on the environment
what are insider groups
those that the government will consult and will listen to their opinions RMT (The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport)
outsider groups cannot be seen to influence the government

organisations old dedicated individuals, usually headhunted form academia, whose sole objective is to devise policy suggestions
usually have political leaning
