Describe how decision-making in a crisis is similar to, yet different from, decision-making in a non-crisis situation. How did the Bush administration’s response to 9/11 illustrate that? Use many examples from the article.
They are similar in the sense that in a crisis and non crisis you have to make a decision; You do not know the outcome of the decsion but alll you know is that a decision has to be made. No decision is a 100% perfect but you try to pick the decision with the greater and better outcome fort the country. They are diffferent in the sense that in a crisis you have to make a decision with little information and knowledge abot the situation; you have to make the decion right then and there, very impromtu and without full knowlegde of what is goin on. While in a non crisis you have knowledge of what is going on and maybe more time so you are able to make a decusion easier and better.
In the bush adminstration their error was that there was lack of sound communication. No one know exactly what was going on. an example is that the president when he first heard of the attack was told that it was just a crash on the trade center. Some other errrors were they thought a jet was in the air but they did not know that it was in a completely different location, they did not even know what was going on in the begining they all thought it was a just a mere crash, they did not know one plane was en route for Washington, they did not know at first that the planes were hjacked.
In a crisis many organisation have to come together in order to solve the problem. The mixture of all these organisations togther causes a problem in information beause there are so many leaders and you do not know which to follow.

Negotiating: This means that the president should be able to barrgain on things and do it very well. He/ she should know what the other party wants.
Public speaking; This means the president should be able to talk in public and be able to move the public while talking. He should be able to give a speech and carry most if not all of the audience well.eg. Reagan.
Ability to learn in job: To be a president you need to learn from past mistake. Not every decision you make is going to be right so if you make a wrong decsion you have to learn from it in order not to repeat in an example is the bay of pigs with JFK
Crisis management: This means that the president should be able to handle any crisis or problems that comes in the way. You have to make the best decision with limited information. He should be able to know how to remmain calm and be able to control the situation.
