A
  1. only Louisiana met the 10% vote and was admitted into the union
  2. 2 radical republicans, Henry winter Davis and Benjamin wade, introduced the wave-Davis bill in June 1865 that required 50% of the electorate to take a much tougher oath for future allegiance to USA. the bill was later vetoed by Lincoln

A

introduced by Lincoln in November 1864 and approved by congress in January 1865. enough states had approved the amendment making abolishing slavery. Freeing all slaves

stated that :
- people who were born in the USA or who were naturalized were US citizens and all guaranteed equality before law
-also gave federal authorities the right to intervene if states contradicted the rule

what is the military reconstruction bill (1867)?

A

Apart of radical reconstruction. imposed military rules on the south, beside Tennessee. the 10 remaining states were separated into 5 groups under military commander to get back into the union. southern states had to elect national conventions which would agree to the 14th amendment.

A

passed in response to the rise in violence in the south.
it became a federal criminals offence for an individual to restrict the civil and political rights of others in order to control the kkk marital law could be enforced and habeas corpse.
in 1870 congress passed 3 acts which gave president grant legal and military power to crush the kkk
