Preservation Flashcards
What state are immediate readiness reserve aircraft kept in
Engines are preserved IAW AMM
When are aircraft deemed to be in short term and medium term reserve
When the aircraft is out of use for less than a month
What processes must be carried out on the engine if it is in Short/Medium term reserve
Run engine at least every 14 days
Or
Engine fuel system inhibited
Or
Engine must be turned by hand to operate the system
When is an aircraft deemed to be in Long term reserve?
Out of use for longer than a month
Why is silica gel placed into long term reserve engines
To absorb moisture and reduce the chance of corrosion
How quickly does the WVR bag have to be sealed after silica gel is placed inside the engine
10 minutes
What protective materials are used externally for preservation
White spirit - clean fuselage and blow dry with compressed air
What is a WVR bag
Water Vapour Resistant bag to keep the engine in during long term reserve
What chemical is used internally for preservation
PX24 - stop corrosion
OM 11, OM 13 - mineral oil for inhibiting fuel system
XG275, XG287 - light grease to preserve controls and linkages
What colours on a humidity indicator show safe and unsafe
Blue - Safe
Pink - Unsafe
What are the 2 transparent panels on a WVR bag used for
Engine identification
