The scope of cross-examination

generally limited to the subject matter of the direct examination

Motion to Strike
A
objection made after an improper question is about but before the witness responds. If it is the witness’s answer that makes the testimony improper, counsel should move to strike as inadmissble

Leading Question & exception
A
a question that suggest the answer within the question. generally not permitted under 611(c). Exception: a leading question is permitted on direct examination when it is necessary to develop the witness’s testimony.
there is generally no restriction on the use of leading questions during cross examination.
