Rule (tip/trick) regarding sum and possum conjugations:

A

Within the SUM, ESSE (to be) conjugation words that start with “S” (sum, summus, sunt) have no “t” in the stem of POSSUM, POSSE (to be able) conjugation (possum, possumus, possunt).

Within the SUM, ESSE (to be) conjugation words that start with “E” (es, est, estis) have a “t” in the stem of POSSUM, POSSE (to be able) conjugation (potes, potest, potestis).
