A

in most cases where pt is healthy - self limiting disease - bed rest, fluid intake, analgesia

however if immunocompromised or severe pain

200mg aciclovir, 1 tablet 5x day for 6 days

Anti-fungal medication

MICONAZOLE GEL 20MG/G, 80G TUBE, pea sized amount on to lesion, denture fitting surface after food 4x day

FLUCONAZOLE - 50MG FLUCONAZOLE CAPSYLES, 1 CAPSULE A DAY FOR 7 DAYS

NYSTATIN - ORAL RINSE, 100,000UNITS/ML, 30ML. 1ML TO BE TAKEN AFTER FOOD 4X DAY RETAIN FOR 5 MINS THEN SWALLOW

Sodium fusidate ointment - 2% sodium fusidate, 15g, apply 4x day

A
  1. CHX 0.2% 10ml 2x day
  2. Salt water rinses
  3. 0.15% diflamm MW - for inflammation and analgesia - 15ml every 1-3 hours
  4. Lidocaine spray 10% onto ulcer
  5. Benzydamine MW 0.15% - every 1hr 30, spray 0.15% - 4 sprays every 1hr 30
  6. Betametasone MW - 500micrograms, 100 tablets, dissolve one in 10mil water, 4x day and spit out
  7. Beclamatesone Inhaler, 500mcg, 4x day, no rinsing after use
  8. in severe cases/debilitating - can refer to OM for steroids

-Prednisolone - high dose, short duration

  1. Immunosuppresants - mycophenolate, aziothioprine
