What is the difference between POM A and POM S
POM A annotation means that the podiatrist can administer certain prescription only medicines including a range of local anaesthetics and adrenaline as part of their professional practice.
POM S annotation on the other hand means that the qualified podiatrist can sell/supply or administer selected POM S drugs. Pharmacists can sell or supply these to podiatrists or directly to a patient via a signed order
Which annotation is required to write a signed order
Registered podiatrist with the POM S annotation are able to write a signed order allowing a pharmacist to supply selected POM S drugs to a patient directly

This refers to medicine which can be sold without a prescription in a pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist
What does the IP annotation refer to
Independent Prescriber and refers to the prescription of drugs by a podiatrist within their scope of practice
What does the annotation SP mean
This means the podiatrist can prescribe medicines to patients as part of a clinical management plan agreed between the Supplementary prescriber, doctor and the patient
