Difference between doac and warfarin?
Warfarin:
- needs INR check
- teratogenic
- can interfere with other meds
- increased risk of bleeding
- diet control
- reversible
Doac
- expensive
- contraindicated in pts with renal impairment / gi bleed
- increased bleeding risk
- non reversible
Referral management in abcd2?
- High risk specialist referral immediately and give anti platelets
- moderate risk specialist referral within 24 hours
- low risk specialist referral within 7 days
Lifestyle advice in abcd2?
- healthy diet
- exercise
- weight loss
- smoking cessation
Antitheombotic treatments in abcd2?
300mg aspirin immediately and 75mg od long term
Secondary prevention in abcd2?
Control htn, statins for those with high cholesterol, do not drive for one month after tia
DVT treatment?
- lmwh
- oral warfarin/ doac
