Preprosthetic Reconstruction/Implants Flashcards
Ole Jenson 2015
How much bone is required between alveolus and implant along buccal surface?
2mm
Implants palced into extraction sites require a 2 mm buccal plate to maintain vertical alveolar bone
How much distance is required between implants?
Teeth?
3mm between implants
2mm from teeth
This allows for adequate papilla formations and bone maintenance
Does the diameter or length of an implant play a larger role on relieving alveolar crest stess/strain?
Both play a role, increasing diameter and length will decrease stress on the ridge.
BUT
diameter is a more important factor
In immediate implant placement what is most important?
Amount of buccal/facial bone and vertical position of the bone crest the implant is placed in were found to be most important.
How does all on 4 work?
implants are angled to provide adequate bony contact and implant stabilization while increase A-P spread for restorative treatment.
Treatment of atrophic maxilla without all on 4?
SubLeFort I with rhbmp and allograft interpostional grafting of sinuses.
Describe alveolar split grafts?
Used to increase crest width
Bony cut down center of alveolus then is elevated to fragment buccal segment. Pack interpostional with graft and rh BMP and close
Very predictable and stable surgery
Most common surgical error in alveoalr splits next to teeth is?
a. plit is too deep
b. split is toot shallow
c. split extends to subpapillary bone
d. split is too palatal
c. split extends to subpapillary bone
this technique can be combined with indirect/internal sinus lift to raise sinus floor for improved height
What are techniques to increase alveolar bone volume?
GBR
Block graft
Osteotomy (sandwich, alveolar split)
Titanium mesh
