What are the three main stages of prenatal development?
Germinal period, embryotic period, fetal period.
What are teratogens?
Any disease, drug or other environmental agent that can harm a developing fetus.
What are the factors that modulate the effect of teratogens?
Dosage&duration, genetic makeup, prenatal and postnatal environment.
What starts to develop at the 3rd week of the prenatal period?
CNS, heart.
What starts to develop at the 4th week of the prenatal period?
Eyes, legs.
What starts to develop at the 5th week of the prenatal period?
Arms.
What starts to develop at the 6th week of the prenatal period?
Ears, teeth.
What is Quasthoff’s condition?
A result from taking a specific drug (thalidomide) during pregnancy?
What are the methods of studying babies?
Preferential looking, habituation, eye movement, visual evoked potentials (VEP)

6-8 weeks of age.

6 months - 1 year.
