Premature Milestones Flashcards
27-28 weeks
generalized HYPOTONIA
full ROM without resistance
immediately fatigued with visual stimulus
flexor withdrawal onset
29 weeks
extreme head lag
movement of LE>UE
attempts to right head anteriorly in supported sitting
occasional eye opening (wake cycles more frequent)
30-31 weeks
INCREASED FLEXOR TONE LE>UE
recoil LE>UE
rights head anteriorly/posteriorly momentarily (anticipatory head righting)
tracking from midline horizontally
32 weeks
maintains head in alignment with supported sitting
MORO REFLEX
hand to mouth
tracks vertically, can focus on stimulus (e.g. face)
33-34 weeks
stronger flexion of lower extremities
recoil increases in strength UE/LE
follows/tracks stimulus past midline
frog-like resting posture
35 weeks
PHYSIOLOGIC FLEXION
turns head in prone
attempts to maintain head in alignment with pull to sit
36 weeks
FLEXOR TONE THROUGHOUT all primitive reflexes elicited attempt to maintain head in midline with pull to sit pulls into flexion in prone stepping and placing responses present
