Q

Describe an approach for physical factor? (Fartlek Training)

A

‘I carried out this approach around the outside of my basketball court. I walked up one side, went at 3/4 pace along the back of the court, jogged down the other side and sprinted along the front of the court. I tried to stay between 70-85% of my maximum heart rate when doing this. I did this for 25 minutes.’

Q

Describe conditioned games for the social factor?

A

This approach had 2 teams of 5 players of similar ability.

Before the game started, my teacher and our class identified the sub-factors being developed in this approach: communication and leadership.

The game was played over 5 fifths lasting 5 minutes each.

The condition on the game was that only 1 player from each team was allowed to communicate during each fifth.

18
Q

Explain conditioned games for the social factor?

A

because they required no specialist equipment and were easy to set up. - Maximise my time

Oppertunity to communicate - gave everyone the confidence to speak up and voice opinions

because it was easy for my teacher to hear what was being said by the sole communicator. - teacher clearly evaluate performance

developed my whole performance alongside my communication skills - meant all skills improved alongside my communication

19
Q

Evaluate conditioned games for the social factor?

A

Set specific short term targets - communicating more - more organised

It was also good because we developed game specific terminology - Training closely mirrored matches

Provided with detailed feedback - clear idea on how ti improve allowing for more vocal and cooperation between the team.

20
Q

Describe deep breathing?

A

I carried this out in my bedroom. I turned off all electrical appliances. I lay on my back and closed my eyes.I breathed in through my nose for 4 seconds. I held this inhaled breath for 2 seconds. I then breathed out through my mouth for 4 seconds. This counted as 1 deep breath and I repeated this 9 more times to do 10 in total.’

21
Q

Why use deep breathing?

A

was easy to set up and required no equipment - maximise training time

it could be used anywhere - can use it in my own bedroom on my own

because it has been proven in research to help people control their emotions in a range of contexts - trusted the approach

22
Q

Anaylse deep breathing?

A

do the deep breathing approach at home when you first try it - so you arent self conscious, so you take it serious

do your deep breathing in a dark and quiet place to start with - so you don’t get distracted

practice this approach over and over again before trying it in a game situation - you have mastered it so you can do it without getting distracted

t is important that you relax your muscles when breathing out during games - release any tension in muscles - move fluidly

23
Q

Evaluate deep breathing?

A

this approach in any location - in game - able to control my anger before I got sent off by ref

using it in any location helped me control my fears - changing rooms before game - so that I could go out onto the match with clear head
