Prelim Evaluation Flashcards
When using therapeutic CLs make sure they
Have high Dk for oxygen trsnimission to help out the healing
Topography is used for
Hard lenses, when detail is needed
Refractive astigmatism
For a soft CL, the refractive astigmatism is the same as resdiual astigmatism. For RGP the calculation is needed.
What eye position will have near symptoms while wearing CLS
Exophoric Myopes
Esophoric hyperopes
What do do if a pt is past grade 1 papillary reaction?
Daily lens
Antihistamine
Corticosteroids
Edema
MUST be treated before fitting CLs.
Acute: strome strae or folds
Chronic: microcysts and vacoules
Opacities
Active vs inactive
Active: conreal infiltrates or microbial keratitis -> NO CLs
Scars: and old inflammation
How to get Contact diameter
HVID + Pupil diameter
Lid problems with CLs
- Loose will always push the lens down, use steeper lens
- Tight will push lens up or squeeze down, use a different diameter so it stays
How to determine optic zone for rigid lens
Pupil diameter in dim illumination
If too small, it cause glare in dim light
Should be 1-2mm larger than pupil
