What is prejudice?
Prejudice is prejudging someone to be less worth or valued based on no knowledge of them.

Call out bigotry when you see it, educate your self into the different groups, be more empathic. Listen to their story, Look at their beliefs.
What is discrimination?
When people are treated unfairly and discriminated against because of who they are or what they believe in.
What are the groups in which you can’t discriminate against?
Age, Disability,Race,Religion or belief
Being married or in a civil partnership Being pregnant or on maternity leave
Biological sex, Sexual orientation

What are the effects of discrimination?
feel different or inferior to others – it can impact their feeling of belonging or how they see their identity;
have lower self-esteem, self-belief or self-worth;
feel powerless;
feel frustrated;
have reduced aspirations;
struggle to reach their full potential;
struggle with mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety.
What rights do we have?
We all have the right to be treated equally.

black person not getting a job because of his colour or skin.

What is racism?
being discriminated because of their skin colour, race, ethnicity or their nationality.
What is relative poverty?
Relative poverty relates to what a particular society considers to be poor. For example, someone in the UK might be considered to be relatively poor if they live on less than the average UK income.
What is absolute poverty ?
Absolute poverty is when someone does not have access to basic human needs such as water, clothing, education and shelter.
Where would absolute poverty occur and why?

Unemployment, discrimination, getting into debt, being a single parent, family circumstances, government policy.
