Lanugo

Traits that are passed thru genes
Chromosomes
Thread like structures that carry genes in living cells
Dominant traits
always show in a person even if only one gene of the pair is inherited for that trait
Recessive traits
Typically do not show in a person unless both genes for the trait are inherited
Multiple pregnancy
Two(2) or more babies develop
Faternal
Children from multiple pregnancies wo develop from one fertilized ovum & have the same genetic makeup
Chorion
Membrane that surrounds the baby in the uterus
Identical
Children from multiple pregnancies who develop from one fertilized ovum & have the same genetic makeup
Prenatal Development
Development which takes place between conception and birth
Germinal stage
First stage of prenatal development, which lasts about Two(2) weeks after conception
Amnion
Fluid-filled sac that surrounds teh baby in the uterus
Placenta
Organ filled with blood vessels that nourishes the baby in the uterus
Umbilical cord
The cord that connects the baby to the placenta
Embryonic stage
The second(2) stage of prenatal development, which lasts about six(6) weeks.
Embryo
a baby in the embryonic stage of development
Cartilage
Soft, elastic, flexible tissue that provides structure for the body
Fetal stage
Third(3) stage of pregnancy, lasting from about nine(9) weeks after conception until birth
