Describe pregnancy epulus
Benign, inflammatory lesion which appears as an isolated soft, round enlargement close to the gingival margin.
What colour can pregnancy epulus be?
Can be:
Purplish red
Magenta
Deep blue
Spotted with red
What are the symptoms of pregnancy epulus?
Bleeding
Pain if the lesion is large enough to interfere with occlusion and mastication
Allows bacterial growth and therefore development of periodontal attachment loss and eventually bone destruction
