How do you calculate due date?
Take the first day of the last menstrual period.
Add seven days.
Subtract three months.

Due date is March 17th
What is the total weight gain during pregnancy?
28 pounds +/- 3 pounds
How much weight should be gained during the first trimester?
1 pound per month.
Therefore 3 pounds in the first trimester.
How much weight should be gained in the 2nd and 3rd trimester?
1 pound per week.
Therefore 24 pounds in the 2nd and 3rd trimester.
An easy way to calculate the weight?
Take the week of the pregnancy and subtract 9. This is the answer +/- 2 pounds.

When is the fundus palpable?
12 weeks
Is the fundus palpable during the first trimester?
No, it is only palpable after the first trimester.
When is the fundus palpable at the umbilicus?
20 to 22 weeks of gestation
What are the 4 positive signs of pregnancy?
- Fetal skeleton on x-ray.
- Fetal presence on ultrasound.
- Auscultation of fetal HR.
- When the examiner palpates fetal movement or outline.
When can the Fetal HR be auscultated?
8 - 12 weeks
When dose quickening occur?
16 - 20 weeks
What are the “maybe” signs of pregnancy?
- All urine and blood tests.
- Chadwicks sign
- Guedel’s sign
- Hegar’s sign
Is a positive pregnancy test a sign of pregnancy?
No, it is only probable or presumptive.
