What is silent review and when is it used?
The silent review helps you prepare for the unexpected and also helps you to focus your attention on your duties responsibilities, and safety. The silent review should be performed during the take-off and landing phases of the flight.
What does O in silent review stand for?
Operation of exits:
Depending on the aircraft type, the operation to open the exits can change, e.g. an Airbus door handle is pulled up to open, however, a Boeing’s handle rotates. You must note the door-opening procedure and go through this in your head.
What does L in silent review stand for?
Location of equipment:
Depending on your position in the aircraft, you must note what equipment is located in your area that might be needed in an emergency situation, e.g. fire extinguisher or First aid kit etc
What does D in silent review stand for?
Drills:
You will go through the drills for an emergency landing - e.g. water landing drill
What does A in silent review stand for?
Able bodied & disabled passengers?
Note where ABs are seated and how they might be utilised, or, in the case of disabled passengers, what assistance they may require. Also note where families with children are seated
What does B in silent review stand for?
Brace position:
The brace position will be dependent on wether you are facing forward or aft. You must mentally go through the actions of which brace position to assume
What does C in silent review stand for?
Commands:
You must go over what the commands will be for various emergencies, e.g. brace - “Bend down, stay down” or “Emergency brace, brace brace” etc
