Predict, Prepare, Protect Flashcards

1
Q

What are some ways to predict against an earthquake?

A

WARNING SIGN. PREDICTION TECHNIQUE
-It is common for earthquakes to occur before an erruption- use seismographs to detect tremors

-lava flows, ash and lahars often flow in the same direction- evacuations can be made of people whose houses/ jobs are in direct danger of the volcano

-volcanoes sometimes occur in long cycles of activity and inactivity-the historic eruptions can be plotted on a timeline and this can help scientists prepare
