- Specify who has the power to make decision
- Sets limit on the power of the govt on citizens
- Fulfill the aspirations of the society and create conditions for just society.

Can interfere in religion by govt for reform, financial, political secular aspects of the religion.

Governance of the state in the hands in people.
Ensure rights of people and checks and balance bw institution.

Head of the state is elected for fixed period.
Can be direct election or indirect.

Describes the source from where the Constitution derives it’s authority.
States the nature of the state.
States the objectives of the Constitution.
Helps in interpreting various provisions of the Constitution.

Equal participation and have a voice in the Govt.
Universal adult franchisee
Equal political rights and access to political offices
Liberty?
Absence of constraints of govt in citizens, also provide opportunities to develop oneself.
Not absolute but with restrictions.

Sense of brotherhood
Ensures dignity of individual. Aspires of unity and integrity of the nation.
