What is a mood Board?
A mood board is a collection of sample materials and products which provides an idea of what a product will look like. It can either be created physically or digitally.
What is the purpose of a mood board?
1) To assist the generation of ideas by collecting a wide range of material that will give a ‘feel for what is needed
2) To stimulate creativity and innovative approaches.
How are mood board used?
1) For any creative media project as a starting point
2) To collect samples, materials and a range of relevant content.
3) As a constant reminder of possible styles
What things are included in a mood board?
List 5
Images, colours, text and key words, fonts, font styles, textures (e.g. fabrics)
Sounds and video clips could be used on a digital mood board
What is a mind map?
A mind map (or spider diagram) is a way of organising thoughts and ideas. It is based around a central theme and has branches off for the different aspects using sub-nodes.
What is the purpose of a mind map?
To quickly generate ideas and to develop and show links between different thoughts, aspects and processes of a project.
What is a mind map used for?
to show the development and options for ideas in any project
To show the connections and links between different parts of the project.
What things are included in a mind map?
List 3
Central node with main theme
Sub-nodes with interconnecting lines or branches for the different parts
Text at each sub node for key points, ideas, requirements etc.
Images can also be used on the sub-nodes
What is a node?

A point on the mind map that has some information or an idea.
What is a sub-node?
related to mind map
A point that also has information or an idea but must be related to the node that it is connected to.
What is a branch?

A line that joins the node to the sub node.
What is a vilsualisation diagram?
A visualisation diagram is a rough drawing or sketch which outlines what the product will look like and what ideas and concepts will be portrayed.
What is the uses of a Visualisation diagram?
1) To give a client or production team to show what the intended product will look like. e.g. CD covers and DVD covers
2) To plan posters
3) To plan comic book page layout
4) web page design
What is the purpose of a Visualisation diagram?
To plan out the layout of a static or still image In a visual manner
To show how a finished product might look
What things are included on a Visualisation diagram?
- Multiple images and graphics showing their size and position
- Colours and colour schemes.
- Position and style of text
- fonts to be used
- Annotations to provide extra needed detail
What is a storyboard?
A storyboard is used to illustrate a series of moving images and has a flow of scenes which follow a timeline.
How does a visualisation diagram differ from a storyboard
A visualisation diagram shows what a static image will look like for instance a magazine front cover whereas a storyboard shows how a moving product with a storyline will look for example in an animation.
