16
Q

In line equation y=mx+b. What does the b represent?

A

y intercept

17
Q

In line equation y=mx+b. What does the y represent?

A

The y value of an ordered piar

18
Q

In line equation y=mx+b. What does the m represent?

A

slope (rise over run)

19
Q

In line equation y=mx+b. What does the x represent?

A

The x value of an ordered pait

20
Q

Given an equation of a line in the form y=mx+b how could you solve for m?

A

Divide the coefficient of y into mx AND b.

21
Q

What is a coefficient in an equation?

A

The number before a variable i.e. 3x 3 is the coefficient 25z 25 is the coefficient.

22
Q

Given an equation of a line in the form y=mx+b how could you solve for b?

A

Solve for m (the slope first) then plug that in to solve for b

23
Q

What is the order of operations when solving equations?

A

PEMDAS (Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction

24
Q

How do you add or subtract fractions with unlike denominators?

A
  1. Find a common denominator then solve.
25
Q

How do you multiply fractions?

A

Multiply the numerators together then the denominators. Reduce if necessary.

26
Q

How do you divide fractions?

A

Flip and multiply. Flip one of the fractions i.e. 1/2 becomes 2/1 then multiply. Reduce if necessary.

27
Q

What are the 3 types of fractions?

A

Improper, Mixed, and standard

28
Q

How do you convert a percent into a decimal?

A

Move the decimal point over 2 place values to the left. 25%=.25

29
Q

What are Whole numbers?

A

Non-negative positive numbers 4,12,859

30
Q

What are Natural numbers?

A

1 to infinity

31
Q

What are rational numbers?

A

Fractions (terminating)

32
Q

How do you convert a decimal to a fraction?

A
  1. Write the decimal as the numerator and 1 as the denominator. 2. Move the decimal point over for the numerator to make it a whole number. 3. Move the same number of place values in the denominator. Example 0.50 —> 0.50/1 I have to move the decimal 2 place values to the right to make 0.50 a whole number of 50., so I move the decimal place to values to the right for the denominator 1.00 to 100. Now I Have 50/100=1/2
33
Q

How do you convert a percent to a fraction?

A

Set the fraction over 100 and reduce if necessary Example 50% —> 50/100=1/2
