Praying for my husband Flashcards
Father God, I pray that You will bring Tony into Your forever kingdom. I pray that Tony will seek You and find You. I pray that he will seek You with all his heart. I pray that Your Holy Spirit will draw him to You and that his heart will be softened and ready to surrender to You. So many things in this world draw us away from You. I pray that Tony will not be distracted from the truth. May he discover that You are the Lover of his soul and that his most important relationship is the one he has with You. I pray that no matter what his friends are doing, he will turn to You and that You will be the most important person in his life. I ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.
AMEN
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for hearing my prayer. Thank You for forgiving me of my sins and for loving me more than I can ever imagine. I know that You have loved me with and everlasting love since before the foundation of this world. I believe that You have a good plans for me and good hopes for my future. Show me all the places in the garden of my heart where my thoughts, attitudes, and actions need to be changed. Most of all, Lord, I desire that You will bring me into a deeper relationship with You.
AMEN
Dear Lord, I pray that, as the years pass, the best game Tony will win is the waiting game. I pray that he will have long vision to look ahead, instead of looking at his current moment with a sense of missing out. I pray that he will be so filled with Your love that it will weigh him down. Anchor him in Your Word and make the thought of running around and searching for temporary answers unappealing. Father, Your Word says that patience comes with trials, and I pray that, as my husband walks through the trials of life, he will sense You walking with him and at times carrying him.
AMEN
Dear Lord, I know there may be times in my husband’s life when he doesn’t understand what’s going on. There may be relationships that bring him hurt. There may be situations in which he doesn’t know what to do or where to turn. I pray that in those times, he will turn to You, and You will give him direction and peace. As he has questions and is making decisions, I pray he will turn to You for understanding. Finally, I pray You will give him a heart of compassion. I pray that he will be understanding about the mistakes I’ve made. In the name of Your Son, amen.
AMEN
Dear Lord, just as I’ve made mistakes, I know that my husband has too. I pray that even now you will help my heart to deal with the ways he has fallen short. Lots of things are happening in my life that I don’t understand. Why do people have to hurt or disappoint me? Why do I hurt and disappoint myself? I pray that You will give me understanding to handle life - now and in the future. The one thing I do understand, dear Lord, is Your love. I understand You love me more than anyone else does. I understand You have good plans for the future. Thank You. I love You. Amen.
AMEN
Lord, right now I pray for my husband. I trust You hold him close to your heart. I thank You that You love him and watch over him and that I get to join You in doing that. Lord, I pray my prayers will open heaven’s gates and send down Your strength to him today. I pray he will turn to You in prayer, trusting You to make a difference. I pray these things in Your Son’s name, amen.
AMEN
Dear Heavenly Father, for so long I worried about finding the right person. I worried I’d never have someone to love me. I worried I’d be left out. I feared I’d be alone. Sometimes those worries led me to bad decisions. Always those worries took my mind and heart off Your plans for me and put my attention on the present situation. Forgive me, Lord Jesus, for my worries. Forgive me for all the desperate acts they have led me to. Your Word says that perfect love drives out fear. I want to know that type of love. Help me to realize Your love for me in ways I’ve never known before. Help me to trust. I know, Lord, that many of my motive for these prayers have been about my husband, but I also thank You that I’m changed in the process. I know that the closer I am to You, the better wife I am for my husband. I know the more I depend on You, the better bond You can build with me and with my husband. I thank You that You are the third strand in our relationship. I know that only Your love is perfect. I trust that. Amen.
AMEN
Dear Gracious God, today I pray that my husband will be faithful to You. I pray that his heart will grow tender toward You, Lord. I pray that when he makes wrong choices, he will get caught. I pray that he will immediately confess to You and that he will experience Your forgiveness and grace. Teach him how to be faithful to his friends. Show him the attractiveness of being loyal. I pray that my husband will trust in You with all his heart, and he won’t be distracted by what looks good or what he figures is best. I pray that he will spend time with You and live for You, not by following a list of rules but rather by having a personal and intimate relationship with You. Listen to his prayers and surprise him with Your goodness. Thank You for hearing my prayers. In Jesus’ name, amen.
AMEN
Dear Lord God, I admit that sometimes I don’t pray from deep in my heart because I’m afraid I’ll be disappointed. Right now I just want to thank You that You care about the deepest desires of my heart. I’m amazed that You love me more than anyone else loves me and that You love to show me how deeply You care. Help me to seek you diligently with all my heart. I pray that each day I’ll get to know You better. I pray that as I grow closer to You, I’ll also be more sensitive to Your ways. Help me be tender to those You bring into my life. Most of all, I pray that I will be loyal to You and not to my own desires. Help me, Lord, to be sensitive to Your plan… and to Your timing. Whenever I become eager to head off on my own path, help me remember that Your best plan also comes at Your appointed time. In Jesus’ name, amen.
AMEN
Dear Lord, in a world that marvels at guys who are handsome and physically strong, I pray that the gift You impart most to my husband is an inner spiritual strength. I pray that this strength will grow as he turns to You in times of difficulty or temptation. I pray that in whatever areas he is weak, he will ask You in prayer to make him strong. Lord, I pray his strength will make him into a leader who can guide our home. I pray he will stand up against the fleeting temptations this world offers. I pray he will connect with friends who will encourage his strength instead of pulling him down. Just as weights and repetition build muscle mass, I pray the world’s burdens and the daily trials will work for his good, not harm. In Jesus’ name, amen.
AMEN
Lord, just as I pray for strength for my husband, I pray the same for me. I pray that as I get on my knees, You will make me strong. I pray that I will not become weary in praying for my husband but rather that I’ll be diligent at this task, knowing he will benefit and I will too. And, Lord, each day something seems to weigh me down. I believe what Your Word says in Nehemiah 8:10 - that the joy of the Lord is my strength. Please fill me with Your joy, Lord. Help me remember that strength comes when I turn to You, and You empower me for my tasks. I pray for that now. In Jesus’ name, amen.
AMEN
Dear Lord, I pray for Tony’s protection. I pray You place a camp of angels around him. I pray You keep Your ear perked to his cries for help, and in the battles he faces, I pray You will open his eyes to see that Your forces are standing against the enemy. I pray my husband will put on Your armor each day. I pray he will understand the difference in a day that he dresses for the battle verses the day he feels to lazy or forgets. I pray that You will help him to fight not only the outward forces that try to bring him down but also the sin nature inside. Sometimes, Lord, our greatest battles are with our own sinful, fleshly wants. I pray You will help him be strong in this area too. And finally, Lord, I thank You for all the ways You already have protected him - ways we may not know until we enter eternity with You. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! Amen.
AMEN
Dear Lord, I pray for my husband today. I pray for his purity. That he will turn to You to keep him pure. Or, if he’s already made other choices, that he would turn to You to make him white as snow. I pray that my husband will guard his body, soul, and spirit. Thank You, God, for designing purity in this way. It’s a gift. It’s freedom. Help my husband to see it as such. Amen.
Amen
Lord, I know I’m designed to be intimate with another. I know this because my feelings stir inside when I see romantic movies or read romantic books. Teach me how to bond emotionally with You. Help me make good choices that will protect not only my body, soul, and spirit but also my desires. For all the ways I’ve bonded to another, physically and emotionally and even in the wrong way spiritually, I pray You will break those bonds. Forgive me, Jesus, for the ways I’ve turned to other people while You have been waiting for me to turn to You. Help me, Lord, to understand good intimacy—with my family and my friends. I know that having good relationships with others whom You bring into my life will help me to know how to be in a good relationship with my husband. Finally, Lord, help me to understand You are the Son of Man. You understand what it is like to love, to cry, to embrace. Fill me with Your love. I ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.
Amen
Dear Lord, I know no one is perfect, and I don’t ask for that. Instead, I ask that Tony be willing. Willing to see You, willing to see his faults, willing to change. I know no one is always loving, Lord, but I pray that my husband will strive to care for others more than he cares for himself. And to love You with his whole heart. I ask You to put people in my husband’s life who will model good character qualities. I pray for people to encourage him in his character growth. I pray for people who will point out areas in which he falls short and lovingly help him to seek a better way. I thank You that the man You designed to be my husband isn’t exactly like me but rather completes me. I thank You that You picked out my personality and character qualities to join with his—and make us both better for it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Amen
Dear Lord, looking at all the character qualities that I wish my husband had makes me realize that I have a long way to go. I’m thankful, Lord, that You don’t expect me to excel in all these things overnight. I thank You that, instead, You are with me, in me, helping me. I know that the more I go to You, Jesus, and pray and seek, the more You will fill me up. It’s not about my working to be all these things; it’s about filling myself up with You more and more and allowing You to work through me. I’m thankful for that! Lord, I have a list in my mind, but I ask You to change that list according to Your will. I know there are also places where I fall short, and I ask You to help me see myself through Your loving eyes. Sometimes I’m afraid to ask for too much in my husband because I don’t want to be disappointed. I give You my expectations. I’ll be faithful to pray and leave the rest in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Amen
Father, I pray for Tony to be free. Free to demonstrate toughness when a situation or relationship demands it. Free to display grit, strength, tenacity, commitment, and decisiveness under the Holy Spirit’s direction. I pray also that my husband will be free to demonstrate tenderness, sensitivity, understanding, meekness, and humility. Free to be vulnerable enough to foster intimacy and to shed tears. I ask that he has the freedom of authentic masculinity which produces a “divine elasticity” in him. I ask that he can lead with firmness, then submit with humility. That he can challenge with a cutting edge, then encourage with enthusiasm. That he can fight aggressively for just causes, then moments later weep over suffering. I pray that my husband be a secure, free, authentic man who leaves a mark—on his colleagues, friends, on me and especially our children.
Amen
Dear Lord, I have to admit I’m not very good at waiting, and I tend to get impatient. Yet I know, Lord, that Your plan is perfect. I know You love me completely. If Your perfect plan means waiting, then I accept that. When I’m not happy about the waiting, I’ll turn to You to help me be content. Jesus, I’m thankful that You’ll be with me as I wait. In a world that is shouting at me to want more, more, now, now, I pray You will help me be content. Speak to my mind and my heart when I want things I can’t have or when my longings have me looking more to wants than needs. I know, Lord, You won’t give me everything I want, but I’m thankful that You give me everything I need. Lord, I ask You to be the guide of my life. I want to live my life to the fullest. I desire to be on the adventure with You. I trust You, Jesus. Amen.
Amen
Dear Heavenly Father, many guys are out there who shy away from being committed, from doing the right thing, but I pray my husband won’t be one of them. Lord, I pray that You will give him the strength to follow through. I pray You will give him patience and endurance as the years pass. Lord, I’m thankful that heroes still exist. May his faith fuel his actions in all things big and small. May he learn to be committed in all aspects of life. I pray that You won’t leave him alone in his journey, but that You will bring others around to pray with him and for him. I know that with his prayers, my prayers, and the prayers of others, Your perfect plan will come to pass here on earth. Thank You for the commitment You have made to my husband, Lord, to always be there for him. I praise You for that. In Your name, amen.
Amen
Lord, I know today I need to change. I need to be committed. For so many years, Lord, I thought about what I wanted without thinking about what I could give. I know now that what I give is an amazing gift. My prayers, my heart, and my commitment. Father, I know that I won’t be perfect until heaven, but I don’t want to use that as an excuse not to seek You and ask You to transform me. Show me all the areas where I don’t follow through as I should. Make me strong to live as I should. May my commitment to my husband grow each day. In Your name, amen.
Amen
Lord, help me to be a good wife. I fully realize that I don’t have what it takes to be one without Your help. Take my selfishness, impatience, and irritability and turn them into kindness, long-suffering, and the willingness to bear all things. Take my old emotional habits, mindsets, automatic reactions, rude assumptions, and self-protective stance, and make me patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle and self-controlled. Take the hardness of my heart and break down the walls with Your battering ram of revelation. Give me a new heart and work in me Your love, peace and joy. I am not able to rise above who I am at this moment. Only You can transform me.
Show me where there is sin in my heart, especially with regard to my husband. I confess the times I’ve been unloving, critical, angry, resentful, disrespectful, or unforgiving toward him. Help me put aside any hurt, anger, or disappointment I feel, and help me to forgive him the way You do - totally and completely, no looking back. Make me a tool of reconciliation, peace and healing in my marriage. Teach me and Tony the skill of good communication so we can communicate well and rescue us from the threshold of separation where the realities of divorce begin. Make me my husband’s helpmate, companion, champion, friend and support. Help me to create a peaceful, restful, safe place for him to come home to. Teach me how to take care of myself and stay attractive to him. Grow me into a creative and confidant woman who is rich in mind, soul and spirit. Make me the kind of woman that he can be proud to say is his wife. I lay all my expectations at Your cross. I release my husband from the burden of fulfilling me in areas where I should be looking to You. Help me to accept him the way he is and not try to change him. I realize that that in some ways he may never change, but at the same time, I leave any changing that needs to be done in Your hands, fully accepting that neither of us is perfect and never will be. Only You, Lord are perfect and I look to You to perfect us. Teach me how to pray for my husband, and make my prayers a true language of love. Where love has died, create a new love between us. Show me what unconditional love really is, and how to communicate it in the a way that he can clearly perceive. Bring unity between us so that we can be in agreement about everything. May the God of patience and comfort grant us to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus. Make us a a team, not pursuing separate, competitive, or independent lives, but working together, overlooking each other’s faults and weaknesses for the greater good of the marriage. Help us to pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. May we be “perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgement.” I pray that our commitment to You and to one another will grow stronger and more passionate everyday. Enable him to be the head of the home as You made him to be, and show me how to support and respect him as he rises to that place of leadership. Help me to understand his dreams and see things from his perspective. Reveal to me what he wants and needs and show me potential problems before they arise. Breathe Your life into this marriage. Make me a new person, Lord. Give me a fresh perspective and positive outlook, and a renewed relationship with the man You’ve given me. Help me see him with new eyes, new appreciation, new love, new compassion, and new acceptance. Give my husband a new wife and let it be me.

Lord, I pray that You will bless the work of my husband’s hands. May his labor bring not only favor, success, and prosperity, but great fulfillment as well. If the work he is doing is not in line with Your perfect will for his life, reveal it to him. Show him what he should do differently and guide him down the right path. Give him strength, faith and a vision for the future so he can rise above any propensity for laziness. May he never run from work out of fear, selfishness, or a desire to avoid responsibility. On the other hand, help him to see that he doesn’t have to work himself to death for man’s approval, or grasp for gain beyond what is a gift from You. Give him the ability to enjoy his success without striving for more. Help him to excel, but free him from the pressure to do so. I pray that You will be Lord over his work, and may he bring You into every aspect of it. Give him enough confidence in the gifts You’ve placed in him to be able to seek, find and do good work. Open up doors of opportunity for him that no man can close. Develop his skills so that they grow more valuable with each passing year. Show me what I can do to encourage him. I pray that his work will be established, secure, successful, satisfying, and financially rewarding. May he not be “lagging in diligence, but fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.” Let him be like a tree planted by the stream of Your living water, which brings forth fruit in due season. May he never wither under pressure, but grow strong and prosper.
His Work

Lord, I commit our finances to you. Be in charge of them and use them for Your purposes. May we both be good stewards of all that you give us, and walk in total agreement as to how it is to be dispersed. I pray that we will learn to live free of burdensome debt. Where we have not been wise bring restoration and give us guidance. Show us how we can increase our finances and not decrease them on unwisely. Help us to remember that all we have belongs to you and to be grateful for it. I pray that Tony will find it easy to give to You and to others as You have instructed in your word. Give him wisdom to handle money wisely. Help him make good decisions as to how he spends. Show him how to plan for the future. I pray that he will find a perfect balance between spending needlessly and being miserly. May he always be paid well for the work he does and may his money not be stolen, lost, devoured, destroyed or wasted. Multiply it so that what he makes will go a long way, I pray that he will not be anxious about finances but will seek your kingdom first, knowing that as he does, we will have all we need.

Lord, bless my husband’s sexuality and make it an area of great fulfillment for him. Restore what needs to be restored, balance what needs to be balanced. Protect us from apathy, disappointment, criticism, busyness, unforgiveness, deadness, or disinterest. I pray that we make time for one another, communicate our true feelings openly, and remain sensitive to what each other needs. Keep us sexually pure in mind and body, and close the door to anything lustful or illicit that seeks to encroach upon us. Deliver us from the bondage of past mistakes. Remove from our midst the effects of any sexual experience, in thought or deed, that happened outside of our relationship. Take away anyone or anything from our lives that would inspire temptation to infidelity. Help us to “abstain from sexual immorality” so that each of us will know “how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor.” I pray that we will desire each other and no one else. Show me how to make myself attractive and desirable to him and be the kind of partner he needs. I pray that neither of us will ever be tempted to think about seeking fulfillment elsewhere. I realize that an important part of my ministry to my husband is sexual. Help me to never use it as a weapon or a means of manipulation by giving or withholding for selfish reasons. I commit this area of our lives to you, Lord. May it be continually new and alive. Make it all that you created it to be.
His Sexuality
The Power of a Praying Wife - Stormie Omartian
Lord, I pray for open physical affection between my husband and me. Enable each of us to lay aside self-consciousness or apathy and be effusive in our display of love. Help us to demonstrate how much we care for and value each other. Remind us throughout each day to affectionately touch one another in some way. Help us to not be cold, undemonstrative, uninterested, or remote. Enable us to be warm, tender, compassionate, loving, and adoring. Break through any hardheadedness on our part that refuses to change and grow. If one of us is less affectionate to the other’s detriment, bring us into balance. Where any lack of affection has planted a negative view of marriage in our children, or taught them an incorrect way of relating to a marriage partner, help us to model the right way so they can observe it. Show us how to openly confess our errors to them and demonstrate our commitment to live differently. Change our habits of indifference or busyness. May we not so take each other for granted that we don’t make the effort to reach out and touch one another with affection. Help us not to weaken the marriage though neglect of this vital means of communication. I pray that we always “greet one another with a kiss of love.” I know that only the transforming power of the Holy Spirit can make changes that last. I trust You to transform us and make us the husband and wife You called us to be.
His Affection

Lord, I pray that You will strengthen my husband to resist temptation that comes his way. Stamp it out of his mind before it ever reaches his heart or personal experience. Lead him not into temptation, but deliver him from evils such as adultrery, pornography, drugs, alcohol, food addiction, gambling and perversion. Remove temptation especially in the area of prescription drugs. Make him strong where he is weak. Help him to rise above anything that erects itself as a stronghold in his life. May he say, “I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.” Lord, You’ve said that “Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls.” I pray that Tony will not be broken down by the power of evil, but raised up by the power of God. Establish a wall of protection around him. Fill him with Your Spirit and flush out all that is not of You. Help him to take charge over his own spirit and have self-control to resist anything and anyone who becomes a lure. May he “abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.” I pray that he will be repulsed by tempting situations. Give him courage to reject them. Teach him to walk in the Spirit so he will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
His Temptations

Lord thank you for helping my husband stand firm in Christ, in life, in purpose… You have anointed him, put your seal of ownership on him, put your spirit in Him as a deposit. I thank you that you have guaranteed him life, purpose and progress.
Amen
