Pratical 1 Flashcards
What are the 6 regional terms and locations
- Cephalic - Head
- Cervical- Neck
- Thoracic- Chest
- Abdominal- Abdomen
- Pelvic - Pelvis/ Hips
- Lumbar - Back from lowest rib to buttocks
What are the body parts using directional?
Anterior ( Ventral)
Toward the front of the Body
Example- The toes are anterior to the heel
What are the body parts using directional?
Posterior(dorsal)
Toward the back of the Body
Example- The spine is posterior to the sternum
What are the body parts using directional?
Superior (Cranial)
Above
Example- The nose is superior to the chin
What are the body parts using directional?
Interior (Caudal)
Below
Example- The knees are interior to the pelvis
What are the body parts using directional?
Lateral
Away from the midline
Example - The ears are lateral to the nose
What are the body parts using directional?
Medial
Towards the midline
Example- The sternum is medial to the shoulders
What are the body parts using directional?
Proximal
Nearer to attachment of Body
Example- The elbow is proximal to the wrist
What are the body parts using directional?
Distal
Farther from attachment of body
Example - Thumb is distal to shoulders
What are the body parts using directional?
Superficial
Closer to the surface of the Body
Example- The skin in superficial to the heart
What are the body parts using directional?
Deep
Farther from the surface of the Body
What are the body parts using directional?
Contralateral
Opposite side of the body
What are the body parts using directional?
Ipsilateral
Same side of the body
What is Sagittarius Plane
Divides the body into left and right side
If down the middle of the body called midsagittal plane
What is Frontal Plane
Divides body into dorsal and ventral halves
What is Transverse Plane
Divides the body horizontally into superior and inferior portion
ID the parts of a microscope
Fill in the blank print out
What are the total magnification of the objective lens.
4X
4X scanning objective * 10 X eyepiece= 40X
What are the total magnification of the objective lens.
10X
10X scanning objectives * 10X eyepiece = 100X
What are the total magnification of the objective lens.
40X
40X scanning objective * 10X eyepiece= 400X
What are the 4 types of vertebrate tissue
- Epithelial tissue ( Covers and Lines)
- Connective tissue (supports and protect)
- Muscle Tissue ( Allows Movement)
4.Nervous Tissue ( Generates and receives
What is an example of Epithelial tissue
Outer layers of skin; lining of intestine
What is an example of Connective tissue
Cartilage; Bone;Blood; loose; dense
What is an example of Muscle Tissue
Skeletal; cardiac; smooth
What is an example of Nervous Tissue
Neurons
Identify the 3 muscle tissue and identify (voluntary or Involuntary)
Skeletal - Voluntary
Cardiac - Involuntary
Smooth - Involuntary
Identify epithelial tissues ( printed)
Printed copy
What is the function the enzyme catalase?
- Enzyme - Catalase
- Substrate - Hydrogen Peroxide H202
- The function of the enzyme catalase is to speed up a reaction which breaks down hydrogen peroxide, a toxic chemical, into two harmless substances - water and oxygen.
What is the reactants and the products of the reaction
H202 - H2O+ O2
What does denature mean?
Denature unfolding of the protein molecule
What factors may cause an enzyme to denature
Enzyme are easily affected by changes in pH, temperature, and physical activity like other proteins.
What is and enzyme
Enzymes are proteins that speed up speed up the rate of reactions that would otherwise happen slowly and the enzyme is not alter by the reaction
Why are enzymes important in the human body
Enzyme are important because they help facilitate biochemical reaction in our Bodies
What type if macromolecule is an enzyme
Enzyme - Protein
Did starch cross the membrane? Glucose? How did you know?
No starch did not cross the membrane because the water in the beaker with iodine did not change into a dark blue color.
Water should have diffused into your cell. How would you explain Why this happened?
We would be able to know because the weight inside the cell changed and went up
What is Isotonic
Its a solution the has the SAME solute concentration as another solution
What is Hypotonic
Its solution that has a LOWER solute concentration than another solution
What is Hypertonic
Its is a Solution that has a HIGHER solute
Identify the regions of the vertebral column
pictures
How many vertebrae are in each column
Cervical( Neck) -7
Thoracic(Chest)- 12
Lumbar (Back)- 5
Which vertebrae are the Atlas and the axis.
C1- Atlas
C2- Axis
Locate the sternum and identify its threes parts
- Manubrium
- Body
- Xiphoid
(picture )
How many ribs do humans have.
24 ribs total
How many pairs of rib
12 pairs of ribs
Which ribs are considered ‘” true ribs”
1-7 are true ribs
Which ribs are ; false ribs”
8-12 are false ribs
How about those “ Floating ribs” How many?
There are 2 floating ribs and they are ( 11 &12)
