When a boy is 13 or girl is 12 they’re seen as an adult in their faith
Boy wears tallit ( prayer robe )’ and learns how to wear tefflin ( leather box worn on head and arm )
They read the Torah in the synagogue and there is a party afterwards

Explain what happens at a wedding.

A

The man signs a marriage contract called the ketubah
Wedding can be inside or outside in s huppah ( canapy )
This is a symbol or the couples home but is open on the four sides to show they are still connected to the community
Seven blessings are said
They both take a sip of wine from the Sam glass and then the man wraps it in cloth and stamps on it, this is symbol or the destruction of the temple and that life is fragile

What are the three mourning stages and what happens in each stage?

A

Shiva - week long, family sit on low stools to show how sad they are, friends bring food to their house
Sheloshim - month long, male mourners go to synagogue everyday and recite Kaddish ( mourning prayer )
Yahrzeit - means year time and the family place small stones on the grave of the dead
