Q

if n^2is divisible by 72 and n is a positive integer. How do you find the largest positive integer that must divide n?

A

n^2 = 72k and 72k = perfect square.

n^2 = (2^3)(3^2)k
- k = 2m^2 [for 72k to be a perfect square]

n^2 = (2^4)(3^2)m^2

n = (2^2)(3)(m)

Positive integers that MUST divide n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12.

12 is the largest positive integer that must divide n!

Q

For each positive integer k, let ak = 7k.

Which of the following is the greatest value of n such that 10^n divides (a1)(a2)(a3)….(a28)?

A

= 7^28 x 28

10 = 5 x 2

28/5 = 5
5/5 = 1

1 + 5 = 6 = n
