Practicals Flashcards
Distillation of inks
Heat up water and installation gently
Walsall operate first and travel into fractionating column and into condenser
Condenser water calls and condenses and is collected in the conical flask
Making copper sulphate crystals
Filter to remove the excess copper oxide Gently heat copper sulphate solution Stop heating on most liquid has evaporated and crystals form Allow to crystallise Pat dry with filter paper
Neutralisation
Add acid to Beaker
Record PH using universal indicator paper
Add 0.3 g of antacid to acid
Record pH again (add it to spotting tile)
Repeat adding up with 0.3 g of antacid at a time – stop adding after 2.4 g
Purification of copper using electrolysis
Add copper sulphate to beaker
Weigh mass of copper electrodes
Attach pure and impure copper electrodes to powerpack
Add electrodes to solution
Every two min’s, reweigh the copper electrodes
negative Electrode gained mass as it gains copper ions
Moles, mass, RAM
Mass = moles x RAM
Concentration,mass,volume
Mass= concentration x volume
Concentration, moles, volume
Moles= Concentration x volume
